Angela Pneuman reads from "Lay It On My Heart"
We met Angela Pneuman at the Napa Valley Writers Conference last summer and were instantly struck by her vivacious presence. Here, we thought, is a young lady who is going places in the publishing world. And now we are fortunate enough to have her come talk about her debut novel at the bookstore. Lay It on My Heart is essentially a Southern coming of age story, but it also clearly evokes the well-chosen influences on Pneuman's writing. You will see the fingerprints of Flannery O'Connor, Katherine Anne Porter, and Walker Percy here. And like those writers' books, once you've read Angela Pneuman we feel confident that you'll want to put hers up on the same shelf. In short, we think she's a keeper.
