Erin Michelson discusses Adventure Philanthropist

When we think "philanthropy," the next word on everyone's lips is "money."  And of course, giving one's money away to worthy causes is wonderful, we'd all like to be the one who funded a cure for cancer or ended famine in Africa.  Erin Michelson had some money, not a fortune, but she sold her house and all her possessions, and decided to take what she had and see what good she could do in the world.  Her adventures were wild and many.  She met hundreds of volunteers, kind-hearted souls who were working for religious groups or non-profit agencies or just by themselves.  They were trying to eliminate land mines or treat leprosy or provide children with desks and chairs for their schools. And for a short time, she got to be part of their efforts.  This is a book that will give you hope for humanity.  And, if you care about the fate of this planet, more than that:  you'll have a real sense of what you can do, too.
