Last Wednesday Food Book Group
On Wednesday, May 28th, Readers' Books is proud to host the celebrated Bay area chef and restauranteur, John Ash, who will be the featured speaker at the Last Wednesday Food Book Group. Ash, who has been called the "Father of Wine Country Cuisine," co-hosts the weekly food and wine talk show on radio, The Good Food Hour. He has written numerous cookbooks over the years and regularly holds cooking classes at various schools, among them, the Culinary Institute of America.
Ash's latest book, for which he was awarded this year's James Beard Foundation Award for Single Subject Cookbook, is called Culinary Birds. Not simply another collection of chicken recipes, Ash--who has been a long-time proponent of eating fresh, local and organic--shows the reader how to navigate the many poultry brands and terms in order to select the healthiest and most succulent bird for your next meal. He also covers a whole panoply of poultry-from chicken and turkey to duck and goose, and from partridge to squab and game hen.
Open to all--hope to see you there!
