Yes! We are open

Yes, we are open--you can come in the store--do don your mask to come and see us. There's hand sanitizer at the door and remember to stay six feet apart while browsing. The latest shut-downs from the governor did not include retail stores unless they are located in a mall. Here we are on East Napa Street, freestanding, and ready to help you find your next best read. Store hours are 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, on Sunday we still open at 9:30 but close at 3:30 p.m.

We are still able to provide contact-less pick-up in the garden if you are not comfortable coming inside the store. Phone us at (707) 939-1779 and we will have your order bagged and ready on the table in the backyard.

Our website www.readersbooks.com is always open, as is our account at http.//bookshop.org/shop/readersbooks

Looking forward to seeing (or hearing!) from you soon.

NVWC's Week of Reflection and Inspiration

As the end of July comes around, we've found ourselves thinking wistfully of times past: packing up boxes (and boxes!) of books and hitting the road over to the Napa Valley Writer's Conference. They would have been celebrating their 40th year in 2020, but had to cancel for everyone's health and safety. However, our friends there have made some literary lemonade. In their words:

Although we can’t gather in person during the final week of July, the writers’ conference will offer daily online programming from Sunday, July 26, to Friday, July 31, to nurture your writing and reading. If you’re not already on our email list, sign up to receive content directly in your inbox, or check the Web site daily to view free writing prompts from once and future members of the conference faculty, along with book recommendations and links to lectures and author Q&A

Check out their home page here  for sign-ups and more information.

During this week of inspiration, we're offering a 15% discount on the books written by or recommended by past faculty members.

Lilla Gilbrech Weinberger Obituary

Lilla Gilbrech Weinberger, beloved Sonoma bookseller and political organizer, died suddenly and unexpectedly, Sunday, March 24th, following a tragic fall down a flight of stairs. That was how it ended. But that one sentence doesn’t begin to encompass her life.

Born in Pasadena, California, on October 8, 1941, she grew up in a mixed-raced, working class neighborhood. Her father was an engineer who spent the bulk of his career in aero-space and her mother was a skilled gardener and seamstress.
