Betty Ann Bruno presents "The Munchkin Diary"
Local author Betty Ann Bruno, who once was a Munchkin in "The Wizard of Oz" and is the founder of the Hawaiian dance company, Hula Mai, will be at Readers' Books on Thursday, October 13th to present her book, "The Munchkin Diary". There will be a 5:30 reception followed by the 6 p.m. reading. Her book chronicles her myriad adventures, from Oz to pioneering reporter in Oakland, surviving the 1991 Oakland Firestorm, and beyond. Throughout is her struggle with her ethnicity and her ultimate acceptance of herself by founding Hula Mai, a Hawaiian dance company. Her stories are both poignant and inspiring, making this a fascinating memoir.
