Dr. Nancy Dome, co-founder of Epoch Education, will be at Readers' Books on Thursday, March 17th at 6pm to present her book, Let's Talk About Race (and Other Hard Things). As a communication expert and equity consultant, Dr. Nancy Dome provides a framework to create a foundation for meaningful change, progress, and healing for conversations about equity and diversity. Fear of causing offence, avoiding challenges to one's beliefs and worries about creating even more division, all prevent us from effective dialogue. As a communication expert, equity consultant, and educator, Dr. Dome has created a framework to recognize feelings, interrupt flawed patterns, and promote empathetic dialogue. While difficult conversations often come with conflict, that is normal and survivable. With practice, we can recognize the role emotions play when we are not in control of them and create a solid foundation for change, progress, healing, and resolution.

Dr. Nancy Dome is a renowned speaker, author, and equality consultant. She co-founded Epoch Education in 2013 to provide leaders in education and business with accessible professional development in diversity, inclusion, belonging, and equity. As an educator for nearly three decades, Dr. Dome taught in juvenile court and Community Schools, teaching our most vulnerable students. She has served as a Distinguished Teacher in Residence and faculty member at California State University San Marcos. Her transformative approach helps school districts and educational agencies throughout the country navigate complex topics, build bridges, and work together for inclusive, impactful change.
