Readers’ Books Celebrates 30th Anniversary

Readers' Books is celebrating thirty years in business on November 27th, 2021. Everyone is invited to an all-day commemoration of this local institution.

Since opening just after Thanksgiving of 1991, Readers' Books has been a welcoming presence for locals and tourists alike. The store first opened in a warren of rooms at 127 E. Napa and moved across the street into the current location in 2001, where it has continued to be a refuge for curious readers young and old. In 2007, the store was named Sonoma Valley Business of the Year. Over the years, many authors and speakers have entertained crowds at our events from the locally famous to the nationally. As local independent bookstores have been threatened by online retail, recession, and the climate crisis, Readers' has thrived with the support of loyal locals.

On Saturday, November 27th, come to the store to join in the party. There will be a 30% discount on all purchases in the store, as well as a gift with purchase. Pre-order the next installment of Andy's mystery series--The Kindness of Strangers, which will be released in the spring of 2022, in order to receive a signed postcard of the cover. Sign the guestbook and flip through our memory book. Complete the store themed crossword puzzle and enjoy some birthday cake.

In the lead up to the birthday, Readers' will be holding a raffle for themed book baskets to support the Lilla Weinberger Fund. Lilla, the beloved co-founder and political activist, passed away in 2017. Andy created the Fund to grant a yearly scholarship to promising Sonoma students to provide the money needed for books and other sundries required by incoming college freshman. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20; the winners will be announced at the end of the day on the 27th.

We require that all event attendees wear masks during indoor events, regardless of vaccination status; when out of doors, we ask that people use their discretion in keeping safe, including maintaining social distance. Due to unpredictable shifts in covid regulations, we may need to reschedule events. Please keep an eye on our website and social media for any updates.
