Saturday, April 29th is Independent Bookstore Day AND also Authors on the Plaza!
Saturday is a two for one special for Readers' Books! For the last ten years the final Saturday of April has been declared Independent Bookstore Day. We commemorate that day with a warm welcome to all who support us year-round to come by and say hello. You can also expect to enjoy a free gift with purchase in addition to a 'choose your own (adventure) discount' bag, with discounts ranging from 10% to 35% with one lucky winner of 50%!
And if Indie Bookstore Day wasn't enough, the Sonoma Valley Author's Festival will be presenting a free reading on the Plaza at 11:00 a.m. featuring three authors you do not want to miss. Humorist Dave Barry (Swamp Story), novelist Abraham Verghese (Covenant of Water), and our own (first ever second term!) US Poet Laureate, Ada Limon (The Hurting Kind) will be reading and then signing their books. A contingent of us will be on site to sell their books (and to listen to their readings too.) An opportunity to hear three authors of this caliber, did we say this already, for free, simply doesn't happen. Make a point to get there early and do, please, register here so the planners can prepare (and if you register you are entered to win a big bag of books--so why not?). Don't forget to bring water and sunscreen or a hat!
We can't think of a more exciting Saturday for the literary world of Sonoma, so please join us for a lovely day. And thank you--on Indie Bookstore day and everyday. You are why we can continue to not just survive, but thrive.
